Waylay Valorant
Waylay, the newest Valorant agent and the 28th addition to the roster, is a Thai Duelist specializing in mobility and space control. Officially revealed during the VCT Masters Bangkok Grand Finals, she will be available starting March 5, 2025. Waylay introduces a new status effect called Hindering, which slows enemies' movement and weapon actions, adding a fresh layer of strategy to the game[1][2][3].
Waylay's Abilities
- Refract (Basic Ability)
- Create a light beacon on the ground. Reactivate to return to it as a mote of light, becoming invulnerable during travel[3][4].
- Light Speed (Basic Ability)
- Equip for a burst of speed. Fire to dash twice (with the first dash allowing upward movement) or Alt Fire for a single dash[3][4].
- Saturate (Signature Ability)
- Throw a cluster of light that explodes on impact, applying the Hindering debuff to enemies in its radius[3][4].
- Convergent Paths (Ultimate Ability)
- Create an afterimage that projects a beam of light. After a delay, the beam expands, applying Hindering to affected players while granting Waylay a speed boost[3][4].
Hindering Debuff
This new mechanic slows multiple aspects of an enemy's actions, including:
- Fire rate
- Movement speed
- Reload and equip times
- Recoil recovery
- Jump speed[3][5].
Gameplay Role
Waylay is described as a "space-taking duelist," similar to Jett and Raze. Her kit emphasizes aggressive site entry and mobility, making her ideal for coordinated team plays. She thrives in maps with tight spaces like Bind and Ascent but may struggle on open maps like Breeze due to limited defensive tools[2][5].
